AMWC 2017 Monaco

amwc monaco 2017

My impressions of the AMWC 2017 in Monaco:

At the weekend I attended the Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Medicine World Congress in Monaco (AMWC). I was accompanied by my assistant Bana Totaj and pharmacist Monika Reichelt, who also works in my clinic. We spent a whole day at the ZO® World Symposium, which took place on the fringes of the AMWC. This was very exciting, as some new, very effective products were presented, which I will be discussing in more detail in the near future in order to share these interesting innovations with my patients. New treatment protocols were also presented in order to achieve better results even faster. The top ZO® speaker, Dr. Rachel Eckel from Trinidad, impressed once again with her comprehensive knowledge of the intricacies of ZO® application. The exchange between doctors from many different countries and continents is what made this meeting so unique.

In focus: Phenol peeling

The congress itself, which is the largest and most interesting of its kind in the world, focused on all conceivable procedures, products and devices to cheat body ageing and improve appearance. Particularly noteworthy from my point of view: new peeling solutions for a particularly painless and effective beautification of the facial skin, which were presented by Dr. Jean-Luc Vigneron, as well as a new variant of the phenol peeling by Dr. Philippe Deprez, which I greatly appreciate. The skin care products, peelings and skin boosters from his company Skintech are among the best in the world.

The trend in aesthetic medicine continues to point towards non-invasive or minimally invasive procedures. These treatment methods were once again a major topic at the AMWC 2017 and also aroused my interest.

Trend: minimally invasive procedures

My personal focus was also on the latest developments in ultrasound and plasma devices as well as lasers. Focused ultrasound is now used for tissue tightening. It is still unclear how long the effect of such treatment will last and what other long-term effects the therapy may have. In any case, all non-invasive procedures are currently in great demand and are also attracting a great deal of interest from AMWC visitors. In this context, I was also interested in the new so-called “plasma” devices, about which a lot can be heard and read outside the trade press. The principle: electrodes that emit an arc of current that is passed over the skin. This results in circumscribed tissue ablation and shrinkage. A very good application for this treatment is the “bloodless” correction of the upper and lower eyelids. I will soon be able to use this device in my practice.

The special lasers for removing fat deposits and tightening the deeper layers of the face were also very exciting for me. In a few years, these could become a real alternative to surgical lifts…

The fact that the congress took place in the middle of Monte Carlo and right by the sea naturally contributed to even greater enthusiasm and fits in with the theme. As the weather also played along, the last three days really were a very special highlight of the year and I’m already looking forward to the AMWC 2018!
