Positive review of the 35th annual conference of the GÄCD

On 17. The 35th Annual Meeting of the Society for Aesthetic Surgery (GÄCD) took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cologne on November 18. This year’s event once again brought together top-class speakers from the various specialist areas of our company, who enriched the program with their fascinating presentations.

Day 1 of the annual conference

The first day of the congress focused on dermatosurgery, aesthetic dermatology and anti-ageing. Each lecture offered an in-depth insight into the latest advances in these specialist areas and facilitated an inspiring exchange on pioneering approaches in dermatology.

Particularly outstanding and my personal congress highlight were the presentations by Prof. Dr. Steinkraus and Prof. Dr. Kleine-Gunk, who dealt in detail with active ingredient cosmetics and anti-aging medicine. Prof. Dr. Steinkraus highlighted the various active ingredients such as retinol, vitamin C and niacinamide in a particularly understandable way, while Prof. Dr. Kleine-Gunk presented the latest advances and innovations in the field of anti-ageing medicine. Their presentations were undoubtedly a highlight of the conference and provided participants with valuable insights into this emerging medical field.

The General Meeting

Another important event was the Annual General Meeting, at which a new President was elected and thus my successor. Professor Dr. Peter Arne Gerber was elected unanimously. After two terms as President of the GÄCD, I will now continue to be a member of the Board as Past President for one year. I am looking forward to an exciting year and am convinced that, in Professor Dr. Peter Arne Gerber, we have chosen the perfect president to take this fantastic society forward in the future and continue to promote the interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge at this high level. Dr. Dr. Susanne Herrmann-Frühwald was also unanimously elected as Treasurer and Professor Dr. Dr. Timo Dreiseidler as Secretary General.

After a day full of inspiring talks and informative sessions, we enjoyed a relaxed get-together at the GÄCD Night. An unforgettable evening filled with delicious food, refreshing drinks and rousing live music.

The perfect opportunity to make new contacts and exchange ideas with colleagues and friends in a pleasant atmosphere

Day 2 of the annual conference

The scientific program continued on the following Saturday, with a variety of lectures on the topics of eyelid surgery, facelift / maxillofacial surgery, ENT and plastic breast surgery. The second day also enabled the participants to expand their specialist knowledge and benefit from the experience and insights of the renowned speakers.

True to the congress motto “Aesthetic medicine: LESS IS MORE”, I also gave a presentation and reported on my experiences with the Gliding Brow lift. The advantages of gliding browlifts are that they are less invasive than traditional browlifts, potentially leading to a faster recovery, less visible scarring and fewer risks.

I would also like to mention my co-lecturer Dr. Dr. Susanne Hermann-Frühwald, who gave an informative presentation on the Deep Plane Facelift. The presentations by Dr. Andreas Meiß on dysgnathia surgery and Steffen Giesse, who shared his experiences with energy-based devices for facial rejuvenation, were also impressive and informative.

I would also like to take this opportunity to make special mention of the commitment of Dr. Hossam Foda, who traveled from Alexandria to Cologne especially for our annual conference. Both his lecture on “Ear Cartilage in Revision Rhinoplasty” and his workshop “Tip Surgery in Primary & Revision Cases” were impressively enriching for all participants.

In addition to the scientific exchange, the accompanying industry exhibition offered an interesting platform to find out about the latest technologies and products on the market.

My summary of the 35th annual conference

The top-class speakers, the varied and interdisciplinary program and the opportunity for professional exchange made the 35th Annual Meeting of the GÄCD a very special event that I will remember fondly for a long time to come. I am grateful for the active participation and commitment of everyone involved and look forward to the future impetus and developments in this fantastic company.
